Joey Alexander Trio
Last night’s concert from The Joey Alexander Trio was simply amazing – not least due to its leader being just thirteen years of age, but also the manner in which he presented his interpretation of jazz.
Most striking of all, however was his exceptional virtuosity and utter dedication to his craft conveyed in each piece – proving just how unbelievably talented the young Joey Alexander is. We can’t wait to see how his musical career pans out in the years to come, which areas he will focus on and whether we can expect to see something completely new from the budding star.
Along with two brilliant fellow players, our curious audience was rewarded with a pretty special experience, although some did comment that it was a little thin on the ground in terms of improvisation and was perhaps a little too polished a performance. But what an amazing concert, fantastic evening and fascinating experience. Joey, Daniel and Ulysses – thank you!
