Hollywood Night Classic

Hollywood Night Classic

This evening dedicated to melodies from the big screen ranks among our most popular and well-attended events organised as part of the festival. Once again we opted for a Hollywood production but as the word “Classic” in the title suggests, this time around the films exclusively featured music penned by some of the world’s greatest composers.

As such we had the chance to listen to the most interesting and most widely listened to works by Bach, Mozart, Prokofiev, Beethoven, Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Mahler and many more. The overall impression was magnified by images from each film projected onto the big screen.

More upbeat themes were interspersed with more serious moments however the encores at the end including Monti’s Csárdás delivered by a small cimbalom group, plus Offenbach’s famous can-can from the film Midnight in Paris ensured everyone left in high spirits at the end.
