Dianne Reeves

Dianne Reeves

Dianne Reeves’ exceptional concert held at Prague’s Municipal House could have left nobody doubting her star status as the finest jazz singer of our era. With accolades including several prestigious Grammy awards garnered over the years, Reeves captivated her audience of jazz aficionados and Prague Proms fans with a spontaneous repertoire spanning R&B, jazz, latina and pop.

From entering the stage it was clear we were all about to witness something that doesn’t come around all that often – especially not on Czech turf. Her warm nature and vigour, coupled with unrivalled vocals and exceptional creative zeal won the audience over straightaway resulting in several ovations during the show.

On top of this the winning combination of her charisma and American conductor Chelsea Tipton II’s mastery encouraged the orchestra to deliver an especially energised performance, also acknowledged by the seasoned musicians performing in Diana’s quartet. Witnessing her showmanship and sound first-hand clearly show why she continues to enjoy huge popularity among symphony orchestras and groups who don’t only perform classical music. And we were delighted see the flawless atmosphere complemented by such a wonderful sound system – not an easy feat inside the Smetana Hall.

Propped up by an outstanding production team on a par with the likes of Carnegie Hall, Diana Reeves allowed to experience something close to a truly mega concert.
