Vladislav Kozderka
was born into a family steeped in musical tradition. His father was Richard Kozderka, the concertmaster of the Brno State Philharmonic. Vladislav
first picked up a trumpet aged 14, and upon graduating from the Brno Conservatory, went on to complete his education at the Janaček Academy of
Performing Arts
His artistic debut dates back to 1968 when he joined the Brno State Philharmonic. He followed this up with two solo trumpeter
roles, firstly at the National Theatre’s Opera Orchestra in 1972 and then again in 1990 for the Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK). Alongside this, he
also worked with the Czechoslovak Radio Symphony Orchestra and several other major ensembles and chamber groups in the Czech Republic and abroad. He
first established ties with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra in 1997.
Vladislav Kozderka’s greatest accolades include 1st prize
and the laureate award at the International Prague Spring Competition (1974), Bronze medal (where no 1st prize was awarded) at the
International Music Competition in Geneva (1975) and a Gold medal at the International Competition in Toulon in 1976 (France).
He performed to
exceptional critical acclaim on home soil as well as in France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Japan, USA, South Korea and Taiwan.
Vladislav
Kozderka’s earthly journey came to an untimely end on 7th December 2015. He would have celebrated his 69th birthday on 1st
July 2016.
